Kia ora koutou, my name is Debbie Scannell, and I have worked in Early Childhood for many years. Relationships are the heart of my practise and the most important part of what I do. I enjoy building warm, trusting connections with all tamariki and their whānau.
I love working at Phoenix Preschool because we all share the same values, the environment is well set up and resourced, and there is a real sense of teamwork and respect. It’s a place where every child is known, supported, and made to feel they belong.
I enjoy working closely with Tamariki in their learning environments, supporting them through play, engaging with them, guiding their learning, and helping them grow in confidence and independence, with a strong sense of belonging.
Outside of preschool, I live in Hinds with my partner Graeme. I enjoy family time, gardening and spending time with my grandchildren, Lachlan, Fletcher and Harper whenever I can. Fletcher and Harper live in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, so I really look forward to visiting them and spending special time together. I so miss watching them grow up!
