Kia ora, I’m Alicia, a fully qualified and registered kaiako in our Under Threes (Te Rūma Kiwi) room at Phoenix Preschool.
I’m a proud mum to my two boys, Mason and Louie, and a wife to my husband, Guy. Our family also includes our much-loved dog, Gus! Outside of preschool, we love spending time together, enjoying the outdoors, and getting out to motocross on the weekends. I also love spending time with friends and, whenever I can, getting stuck into my garden, growing fruit, vegetables, and beautiful flowers. I’m also a bit of Christmas nerd – Christmas is absolutely my favourite time of year!
I am passionate about respectful care and believe that infants and toddlers are capable, competent learners who lead their own unique journeys. My role is to walk alongside them, responding to their individual cues, interests, and needs while providing a nurturing, caring, and secure environment where they can feel confident to explore and grow.
Building strong, trusting connections with infants, toddlers, and their whānau is especially important to me. I value getting to know each child and family, working in partnership with them, and creating a sense of belonging where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and cared for.
I studied for four years while working full-time to become a qualified kaiako, and I feel incredibly proud of the journey that has brought me to Phoenix Preschool. I love being part of our Kiwi Room and supporting our youngest tamariki as they discover the world around them.
